KROGER AND KRAFT FOODS PARTNER TO FEED THE HUNGRY
$550,000 Donated to Food Banks and Hunger Relief Agencies Serving Local Communities
CINCINNATI, OH, December 1, 2004 -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) and Kraft Foods (NYSE: KFT) today announced they have contributed $550,000 to help feed hungry families in communities served by Kroger, thanks to the help of customers across the country.
Thirteen Company divisions participated in the “Feed The Hungry” campaign earlier this year, including most Kroger divisions, Dillon, King Soopers, Fry’s, City Market and Smith’s stores. Much of the money, which was donated based on customer support of the Company’s merchandising program, will be distributed to community food banks and hunger relief agencies during the holiday season.
“This promotion is a great way for Kroger and Kraft Foods to offer valuable assistance to local communities, especially at a time when food banks are facing increased requests for assistance,“ said Lynn Marmer, Kroger group vice president of corporate affairs.
