KROGER DONATES $100,000 TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER
CINCINNATI, OH, November 15, 2001 -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today announced it will contribute $100,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to support continued research, education, screening and treatment for the second-leading cause of cancer death in women. The donation was made on behalf of the American Express “Charge for the Cure” campaign.
Various Kroger divisions also support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through The Komen Race for the Cure® Series, which is the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world.
“Kroger is proud to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s continued fight against breast cancer,” said Lynn Marmer, Kroger group vice president of corporate affairs. “Campaigns such as ‘Charge for the Cure’ not only raise money for the battle against breast cancer, but also generate awareness about this deadly disease and the importance of early detection and screening.”
