KROGER ASSOCIATES IN CINCINNATI RATIFY NEW LABOR AGREEMENT
CINCINNATI, November 8, 2007 – The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) said today it has been informed that members of UFCW 1099 in Cincinnati have ratified a new contract with the Company.
"We thank our associates for their focus on serving our customers during this process. This is a good example of how fair and balanced agreements can be reached when the Union and company leadership stay focused and committed to negotiating at the bargaining table,” said Geoffrey Covert, president of Kroger’s Cincinnati/Dayton division.
The three-year contract, effective immediately, covers nearly 11,000 employees represented by UFCW Local 1099 who work in 79 Kroger stores in Cincinnati, northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana.
"This agreement provides wage increases and affordable quality healthcare benefits for our associates and their families and keeps Kroger competitive in the marketplace," Mr. Covert said. “We appreciate the assistance of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in helping us reach an agreement that continues to provide quality jobs for our associates and a great shopping experience for our customers.”
