KROGER “PINK TAG” CAMPAIGN TO RAISE
$3 MILLION FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS IN OCTOBER
Kroger Stores Will Carry
Limited Edition Pink and White Campbell's Soup Cans
Exclusively
CINCINNATI, OH, September 26, 2006 - As part of
its continuing leadership in supporting National
Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, The Kroger
Co. will launch a “pink tag” campaign
in stores to support breast cancer awareness.
Pink tags will be displayed on all participating
products on shelves in Kroger stores across the country
beginning October 1. Each time customers purchase
pink-tagged items during the campaign, they will
be supporting breast cancer awareness in their community.
Some participating products include Kellogg's Eggo,
Keebler and Sunshine items, Coca-Cola's Powerade
and Minute Maid brands and Unilever products under
the Breyers, Ragu and Wishbone labels. Many of Kroger's
Private Selection items will also have pink tags.
In addition, Kroger stores will also carry limited
edition Campbell's soups with pink and white labels
emblazoned with a pink ribbon. This is a first for
the Campbell Soup Company, which replaced its traditional
red and white labels on these cans to support breast
cancer awareness. Nearly seven million of these special
edition cans will be available in two varieties - Chicken
Noodle and Tomato - exclusively in Kroger stores
beginning October 1. Campbell will make a donation
that will benefit breast cancer awareness initiatives
across the country.
With the help of Campbell and several other vendor
partners, Kroger's overall campaign will raise $3
million to support breast cancer research and awareness
in Kroger divisions across the country.
”Too many of us know someone who has been
touched by this disease. Kroger is honored to do
its part to find a cure and provide support to help
educate women about early detection, diagnosis and
treatment,” said David B. Dillon, Kroger chairman
and chief executive officer.
In addition to its support of breast cancer research,
Kroger supports numerous community initiatives across
the country, focusing primarily on the fight against
hunger in America.
