KROGER TO HOST INVESTOR CONFERENCE

CINCINNATI, OH, September 26, 2006 - The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) announced today that it will host an investor conference in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 10 - 11, 2006. David Dillon, Kroger chairman and chief executive officer, will address investors on October 10. Mr. Dillon's presentation will be broadcast live over the Internet beginning at 8:00 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, October 10 at http://www.thekrogerco.com/finance/financialinfo_investorconferencecalls.htm.

On October 11, the following Kroger executives will address investors: Rodney McMullen, vice chairman; Don Becker, executive vice president; Paul Scutt, senior vice president; and Don McGeorge, president and chief operating officer. These presentations will be broadcast live over the Internet beginning at 8:00 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday, October 11 at http://www.thekrogerco.com/finance/financialinfo_investorconferencecalls.htm.
