KROGER TO WEBCAST SECOND-QUARTER CONFERENCE CALL WITH INVESTORS

CINCINNATI, OH, September 8, 2003 – The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today said it will host a conference call with investors on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at 10 a.m. (EDT) to discuss financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2003.

The presentation will be broadcast live over the Internet at http://www.kroger.com/financialinfo_investorconferencecalls.htm. Click on Webcast Events to access the event. An on-demand replay of the webcast will be available from 2 p.m. (EDT) on September 16, 2003 through September 26, 2003.
