KING SOOPERS AND CITY MARKET EXPAND DONATION COLLECTIONS FOR FIRE RELIEF EFFORTS
Denver, CO, June 19, 2002-King Soopers and City Market stores have teamed with the Salvation Army to expand their relief efforts and collect cash donations for the Salvation Army’s 2002 Wildfire Emergency Fund. Donations will benefit Firefighters and local displaced families.
Donation containers are in place at the Customer Service Desk at all King Soopers and City Market stores. Cash and checks, made payable to The Salvation Army, 2002 Wildfire Emergency Fund will be collected as long as The Salvation Army deems necessary.
“Our customers’ and employees’ generosity and support for the local community has always been overwhelming,” said Russ Dispense, King Soopers president.
“We know the need is great. This fire has affected many of our employees in addition to our customers,” Phyllis Norris, City Market president added.
Earlier this week, King Soopers and City Market stores collected non-perishable food items. Thanks to our customers’ generosity more than forty pallets of non-perishable food and medical supplies were donated to The Salvation Army for Firefighters and local families evacuated due to the fire.
In addition, King Soopers with Sun Pacific donated a full truckload of oranges, over 40,000 lbs. to the American Red Cross relief effort with Western Express Trucking Company donating the transportation. King Soopers is also providing storage trailers as needed for The Salvation Army.
