AND UFCW LOCAL 1564
REACH FULLY-RECOMMENDED
TENTATIVE AGREEMENT
ALBUQUERQUE, New
Mexico, June 8, 2009 – Smith’s
Food & Drug announced today it
has reached a tentative
agreement on a new contract with
the United Food & Commercial
Workers Union Local 1564 in
Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The tentative agreement covers
more than 2,000 Smith’s
associates who work in 26 stores
in Albuquerque, Santa Fe,
Farmington and the surrounding
areas.
The UFCW will present the
fully-recommended tentative
agreement to its members for
ratification during several
meetings scheduled to start
Monday, June 8 at various
locations. Details of the
tentative agreement are not
being released pending
ratification.
“Both Local 1564 and Smith’s
came together and worked hard to
reach an agreement that provides
quality jobs, increased wages
and affordable, quality health
care for associates and their
families. This tentative
agreement also keeps Smith’s
competitive in this
marketplace,” said Jim Hallsey,
president of Smith’s Food &
Drug.
