UFCW LOCAL 876 IN DETROIT RATIFIES NEW LABOR AGREEMENT WITH KROGER

CINCINNATI, Ohio, June 8, 2007 – The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today said that it has been informed by UFCW Local Union 876 in Detroit, Michigan that their membership has ratified the new contract agreement with Kroger. The vote occurred on June 7th, and was effective immediately.

The three-year contract covers over 10,000 Kroger associates at 101 stores in the Detroit metropolitan area.

The new contract provides wage increases and affordable quality health care benefits with modest employee contributions.

“This is a fair and equitable agreement that provides a good total compensation package for our associates and helps to make Kroger more competitive in the marketplace,” said Bruce Macaulay, president of Kroger’s Great Lakes Division, which includes Kroger stores in Michigan. “This agreement is an excellent example of positive results that can be achieved at the bargaining table when both parties stay focused and work cooperatively.”

In 2006, the Company donated $150 million to help hunger relief efforts across the country, raise awareness of breast cancer, and support local schools and organizations in the communities it serves.
