KROGER PHARMACIES ACCEPTING LILLYANSWERS PHARMACY DISCOUNT CARD

CINCINNATI, OH, April 9, 2002 -- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) today said its pharmacies are accepting the LillyAnswers card, which allows low-income seniors without prescription drug coverage to pay a flat fee of $12 for a 30-day supply of any Lilly retail drug.

Kroger pharmacies are already accepting discount cards from Glaxo, Novartis and Pfizer.
