The Kroger Co. Foundation

The Kroger Co. Foundation was established in 1987 to support charitable activities in the communities where Kroger customers and associates live and work. In 2006, the Foundation awarded nearly $2.7 million to non-profit organizations.

Grants are made to feed the hungry, support breast cancer initiatives, provide disaster relief and assist local grassroots organizations. Click here to view The Kroger Co. Foundation Report to the Community and learn more about how the Foundation strengthens the communities our Company serves.

When Fred Meyer Inc. and its banners Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Food 4 Less, Smith’s and QFC merged with Kroger in 1999, there were two separate foundations: Fred Meyer Foundation and Ralphs/Food 4 Less Foundation. Recently, the Ralphs/Food 4 Less and Fred Meyer foundations ceased separate operations and merged with The Kroger Co. Foundation. The Kroger Foundation serves all of the Company’s retail divisions, the Company’s manufacturing division and convenience stores.

Only proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations are considered. We do not use a specific grant application.  The Foundation does not support national organizations or programs; endowment campaigns; conferences or conventions; other foundations; individuals; medical research organizations; golf and other sports events.  Eligible organizations may submit proposals at any time through the community relations department of the local retail division office.  The Foundation relies on personnel in the retail operating units to recommend the most appropriate and effective use of Foundation resources in the community. Please click here to see the list of our retail division offices.
